Lord Ganesha or Vinayaka is the first deity of our Hindu Dharma. He is the destroyer of all obstacles and protector of the righteous. All impediments can be overcome by lighting a Ghee lamp for Maha Ganapathi in a temple daily.
In our trust, Sri Maha Ganapathi Homam is performed as a preliminary ritual in all major pujas like Durga Shulini Homam, Maha Nava Chandi Homam, Maha Sudarshana Homam etc.
Lord Vallabha Maha Ganapathi is invoked in a kalasha as well as in the Agni. Ganapathy Atharvana Seersha Upanishad is chanted by vedic priests.Sri Maha Ganapathi Homam is performed by chanting the Maha Ganapathi Moola mantra along with offering of various dravyas like Modakams,Sugarcane pieces,Ghee,Panchamrutam etc. into the vedic sacrificial fire. Maha Ganapathy Gayathri is also chanted. Sree Sukhta Maha Lakshmi Homam is also performed at the end and Poornahuti is offered. Slokas like Sri Ganesa Pancharatnam are also chanted.
On each Ganesh Chaturthi, Maha Ganapathi Moola Mantra Homam is performed with chanting of Moola mantra five thousand times along with the offering of one thousand and eight modaks in the agni. As a financial year commences from April , the spiritual year of our Guru Parampara commences from Vinayak Chaturthi. The search for inner peace and happiness is the goal of a sincere spiritual seeker. So it is very relevant that the spiritual year is started with a Pooja to Lord Ganesh who is the remover of all obstacles.
