Annadanam – Feed the hungry
Gaja duraga Sahasram | Gokulam koti danam ||
Kanaka Rajatha patram | Methini sagarantham ||
Upaya kula vishuttam | Koti kanya pradanam ||
Nahi nahi bahu danam| Annadanam samanam ||
Meaning: Even if one gifts 1000 elephants, horses or gifts 10 million cows or any number of vessels of silver and gold , gifts the entire land till sea, offering the entire services of the clan , helps in the marriage of 10 million women, all this is never never equal to Annadanam(Poor Feeding).
As the Taithreeya Upanishad “Annam Brahma éva bhavati” – Food is verify the Brahman (Lord). In sanskrit “anna” means “food” and “dana” means “donation” or “gift”, so annadanam means “donating food”. Loka Kshema Yagna trust has been regularly conducting Annadanams during Maha Nava Chandi Homam and during various other special occasions. We have conducted Annadanam at various places in India and across the world. We look forward to the support of devotees in carrying out this noble cause of feeding the poor and the hungry. We also welcome contributions in kind such as groceries for the Annadanam.
We perform Annadanam at various locations in Chennai (Pallikaranai,Chrompet,Pallavaram,KK Nagar), Thiruvallur and Villupuram on a weekly basis by distributing food packets. We attempt to cover slums and other locations where people cannot afford their food. Please reach out to us in case you want to perform Annadanam in your area.
